Thank you each and every one of the 329 electors in Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk who voted for me, and put their faith in my positive agenda for our region. I am horrendously competitive, so I had two goals at the count: to get more votes than spoilt ballots and to beat the Family Party. Tick, done on both counts, which is fantastic because my campaign was entirely single-handed in terms of legwork and only had one or two people spreading the word a bit behind the scenes. I’m so incredibly grateful to Councillor James Anderson, who’s done so much to train me up in a matter of hours to the idiosyncrasies of Scottish Borders politics, and very kindly spent last night being my Count Agent, much to the amusement of many SBC staff and his colleagues in the council chamber. The whole Count process was gripping, and I thoroughly enjoyable. I’m hugely proud to have been even the tiniest part of Parliamentary elections that have broken records around the country, and broken moulds. Democracy in action is wildly exciting to witness but last night was extra special. Loving now being a fixture on the Scottish Borders political scene. I’m not going anywhere now!

Ecstatic and knackered, and hugely grateful
