Ellie Merton Politics The night before polling day!

The night before polling day!

Both really excited for tomorrow and sad that the campaigning is all over bar the shouting.

I have loved driving around the constituency so much, loved every single conversation, kept whacking on the hazzards at the side of the road to photograph the stunning scenery or the idiosyncratic produce, and successfully avoided crashing into the wildlife, all determinedly throwing themselves at my car, especially the lambs near Newcastleton, the deer near Lauder and the kamikaze hares outside Cockburnspath.

Thank you so much to so many electors who engaged me in conversation and explained their views. I have learnt the most enormous amount but have so much more to learn.

Whatever happens tomorrow is only the start of my political journey locally. Today took me to Reston and Tweedbank stations, and pubs, shops, chippies, bars and bus stops in Earlston, Roxburghe Hotel, Yetholm, Hoselaw Chapel, England, Eyemouth, Coldingham, St Abbs and Cockburnspath. A fabulous way to end my launch campaign as a politician in the Scottish Borders. And I’m here to stay.

Have a great polling day, excercising your democratic right to choose your Westminster parliamentary representative, and remember to take photographic ID with you. Enjoy!
