So excited! I got as far as Ettrick, starting from Eyemouth, and having a heap of excellent conversations en route, especially in Preston and an incredibly helpful chat at Fingerpost.
I do keep stopping in my tracks and leaping out the car to admire the views, to wonder at the beauty to the place. We are so hugely lucky to live here surrounded by such stunning scenery.
Every conversation I’ve had on the road today has been special, but chatting in Lauder to constituents who had no intention of voting at all, until we had chatted, really lifted me.
Also, the number of people who had received my flier and thought it more than reasonable, and the electors that had voted for me already, off the back of my flier alone, without having met me!
That was very sobering and I am deeply indebted to anyone that has lent me their trust and already postal-voted for a complete unknown to make a difference for them as their new MP.
It’s an huge honour to be considered someone who is able to, and will, do the right thing by electors.
Join the seeming cavalcade and vote for me, Ellie Merton, on 04 July!
Below: the cows and me being buffeted not far from Westruther; evidence I made it to Ettrick; sheep on the Alemoor Reservoir road to Hawick; and the stunning view from that road looking towards the Cheviots in the distance.
And a rather excited video once I’d got home.
