Terrific day chatting to constituents in the east of the constituency, purposefully mainly farmers to hear directly from them what they’re up against. My manifesto ideas seem workable for them, so I’m on the right track there. But, my god, they’re working flat out and barely keeping afloat. And I bumped into musicians, remote workers, American tourists, English weekenders, teachers, and other great people who all had really useful insights into what was working for them locally and what was not. That’s what my canvassing is about: learning from everyone one meets. My most surprising conversation was with a visitor from the midlands, who explained to me a number of reasons to vote for Reform, including how the UN was going to take over the world by force of arms that are already stashed in containers on the south coast, and ban cash.
