Barts dwarfs Whipps. That is exactly what patients experience all the time – central Trust PFI debts dwarfing their local health treatment.
Super-level PFI contracting must be stopped and mega trusts split back into sustainable constituent hospitals within the NHS.
I believe Whipps Cross Hospital should be extracted from the mega, centralised Barts Health Trust that is draining Whipps dry, and will continue to do so. We need our hospital back, and its staff properly treated and supported. Homerton is doing a great job on its own within the NHS. Help Whipps do the same.
As priority, I urgently want to stop the sale of Whipps Cross land and assets. Ostensibly this is being done to offset Barts central debts, not fund local clinical provision at Whipps.
I want Whipps Cross renationalised and resourced with qualified and properly trained NHS staff, not agency staff, improving conditions for already stretched qualified front-line staff and, by that, improving patient care.
I support the cross-party NHS Reinstatement Bill which had its first reading just before Parliament was dissolved for the election. I believe in removing profit from the NHS – an end to PFI, repealing HSCA, and blocking TIPP.
If elected, Whipps Cross would be my number one priority, above all else. It is vital we win our publicly funded hospital back. #SaveOurNHS #vote4NHS #healthdebate #vote4ellie
